a new JAWS list

This came from a friend....
I know there are a lot of lists devoted to JAWS, but most of them have
virtually no traffic at all except for the list on free lists.org so here's
what I'm going to try. I created a list called JAWS-USERS on Yahoo groups
just yesterday, and so far I'm the only member surprise since nobody knows
about it until now. I'd like it to be just for the discussion of JAWS and
whatever applications it works with. For example what program works with
JAWS, or how can something be done using JAWS. There aren't any guidelines
yet since I haven't had the opportunity to write them, and I'm still working
the bugs out of all the various settings that need to be changed and so
forth. I figure that there's no harm in trying and if it doesn't work out
I'm really not out anything but a little time. Hopefully it will turn out
to be a productive list that everybody can benefit from who uses JAWS. I
think that there has been a need for this since the old JFW lite list shut
down. So if anybody is interested in trying it out the subscribe address is
as follows.

jaws_users-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Now remember even though I know how to moderate a list I've never set such a
thing up before, so please be kind, thanks.

I think that was the list run by debby something or other. while she was very knoledgable I think she ran the list pretty heavy handedly. when you nail everyone for posting the least bit off topic you tend to run people off!

when she first started the list, she wasn't that way, and she said she'd never play hardball, but then she changed and did exactly what she said she wouldn't do.

I know what you mean. When I upgraded to jaws 5, I was wondering why I couldn't create default frames anymore. There was nothing in the help files about that feature being taken away, so I asked about it, and she took it for granted I didn't know how to use help topics, which I resented, because actually, I try to read any help topics, or any written material before asking people, either here, or anywhere else. I usually only ask other people for help and assistance, only if it's a last resort. I told her I had indeed read the help topics, and if there had been any reference to default frames being taken away, I wouldn't be asking the list. I called freedom scientific, and talked to Dennis, who is one of the most wonderful tech support people at fs. He didn't know about it either, but he asked someone else, and fs had changed it. I wrote the list back, and told them I had called freedom scientific about it, and they were very helpful about it, and I found out the feature to make frames default instead application specific had been taken away, and I was leaving the list, then I unsubscribed. I got an email from her the next day, saying she was sorry she couldn't help me, now she understood. Her instructions had to do with changing a line in a .ini file, which I'm not brave enough to do, so I just accepted the frame I use to have as a default had to be application specific. When I tried to get back on recently to see if anyone could help me with ms reader, I got a reply from yahoo saying I'd been banned. There was nothing about the list being removed. I thought someone else had taken it over.
